Kevin Dingman earned his BFA from 91直播 in 1986

CANTON, Mo. 鈥 91直播 proudly announces Kevin Dingman: A Retrospective as part of the 2025 Alumni Exhibition opening on Homecoming Weekend. The exhibition will open with a reception Saturday, Oct. 25 from 3鈥5 p.m. in the Mabee Art Gallery, with an artist talk by Dingman 鈥86 beginning at 3:30 p.m. The opening reception and artist talk are free and open to the public.

鈥淲elcoming Kevin back to campus for Homecoming makes this exhibition especially meaningful,鈥 said Jennifer Bock-Nelson, assistant professor of studio art and director of the Mabee Art Gallery. 鈥淗is work reflects not only his talent and dedication as an artist but also the strong foundation he built here as a student. It鈥檚 exciting for our students and community to see how a Culver-Stockton education can grow into a lifelong creative journey.鈥

Dingman, who earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in art, has built a career rooted in photography, exploring a wide range of processes including bromoil, cyanotype, E-6, black-and-white, and digital. He said his work has consistently centered on the action and quality of light, reflecting his lifelong passion for capturing experiences through imagery.

His exhibition brings together a wide sampling of his career, featuring subjects and processes that span decades, alongside new prints from more recent work.

鈥淭his will be a show you鈥檒l want to walk through more than once,鈥 Dingman said. 鈥淚 expect people will connect with different images in different ways, which is the nature of art.鈥

Returning to the Hill to exhibit in the Mabee Gallery, where he once worked as a student, is particularly meaningful for Dingman.

鈥淚t鈥檚 always nice to return where you started, to share your progress with those who knew you then, as well as a new audience who might see something different,鈥 he said.

Dingman also offered advice for today鈥檚 Culver-Stockton art students: 鈥淲hen it comes to art, nothing is outdated, so be open to the old and established along with the new. That鈥檚 how breakthroughs are made.鈥

Kevin Dingman: A Retrospective runs from Saturday, Oct. 25 鈥 Friday, Dec. 5. The Mabee Art Gallery, located in the Herrick Foundation Center on Culver-Stockton鈥檚 campus, is open Monday鈥揊riday from 9 a.m.鈥4 p.m., and entry is free and open to the public.
